Relatively late in his career Povey made some stone lithographs, although he was not entirely comfortable with the detached nature of the process. Unlike with painting, where you can directly and immediately see the results of your decisions, lithography is a step removed, and so the lithographer works 'blind' in a sense. A rather masculine and stern woman appears as QUEEN DETHRONED, in Texas, where he was assisted by the head of lithography in the University of Texas.
